More Projects...

We had another busy weekend around the house. I can't believe we haven't been to the lake in 2 weeks but we'll be there this weekend for the 4th. One of my little projects was to hang curtains for the living room. Goodness..who knew it would be such a project. I couldn't decide on what color I wanted. So, I brought home one panel of each color to help me see what would look better. (red, blue green, light blue and cream) As you can see...the cream won and I do love them. They aren't completely finished yet. I still have 2 more panels to buy for the middle section. But, I went ahead and got 2 for now until pay day next week! =) Who knew how hard it would be to hang the silly things.. Mom and Dad and my aunt, Deanna (who happened to be in town) came over Saturday night for dinner and to help me hang the curtains. I needed my momma's help! Jamie made us a yummy steak dinner and we finally got the curtains up. I think it just adds so much to the room! Thanks mom and dad for your help!

We also planted some flowers in the flower bed out front. I have been wanting a hydrangea and we finally found one. I just love it! I hope that I can take care of it and not kill it. We'll see..
We also bought a few day lilies since they were on sale and planted them in the front bed. I know they won't live much longer but they sure are pretty.
We also bought some crepe myrtles and planted them along the side of the fence. I think they are so pretty too.. I can't wait to see them bloom. We may have to move them if they get too big!
I also came across these cute little letters at Hobby Lobby the other day. Now that we have the storm door..I can't put my cute little wreaths, or buckets on my front door anymore. =( So, I was trying to think of something I could add. I put our initals in the 3 windows.. what do you think?
Next weekend we will be hanging out at the lake for the 4th and then we are off to Point Clear for the week to celebrate our 2nd anniversary. Can't wait!

Happy Fathers Day

Happy Daddy's day to this awesome pop! He is definitly one of a kind. I LOVE my daddy! Words can't express how much he means to me. I know my daddy is always there if I need him and I am so thankful that my parents are just a few miles up the road. They mean the world to me and I am so blessed and thankful for them each day. My mom and dad will celebrate their 42nd wedding anniversary in August. Wow! That's alot...and they were high school sweethearts.. Such a sweet story! I admire both of them soo much and I thank God for allowing them to be my parents. I have learned so much from them and I couldn't imagine life without them!

We've been busy around the house too. Jamie finished installing our new storm door and I love it! I love being able to leave the front door open to see out. And.. it keeps the dog off the furniture. So, that's a plus! Jamie also put out some new pinestraw in the backyard. It looks much better! Our next project is trying to get the yard landscaped.. I swear it is a never ending project when you buy a new house.

My new lamps came in and I love them in the living room. I also found some other super cute lamps from TJ Maxx for my buffet table. I love them too. So cute. I still haven't found curtains yet but I am thinking about getting a light green, baby blue or creme. I'm trying to decide... decisions, decisions!
I have been enjoying going to the pool and having lunch with sweet friends that I don't get to see very much! It has been fun! Looking forward to our vacation in 2 weeks.. woo hoo! Where has the time gone? I can't believe June is almost over already.. summer please slow down!! Hope you are having a good one too!

New Lamps

Well.. how cute are these?

So, I just ordered two of them for my living room and I can't wait to see what they will look like in here. I ordered them in Jade.. it is the one on the far left. It has a little tint of green in it. A special thanks to my super sweet BFF Leah for helping me find the lamps! She has the best taste and I just love having friends that are so willing to help you out when you need a hand! Love you Leah!
I guess I've had too much time on my hands the past few weeks.. I've been a decorating fool. ha! I'm sure according to the hubby he would say I've been breaking the bank account. But, really.. how often do you buy new lamps for your living room? Like once! So, it will be fine. What do you think about these super cute lamps? I will post some pics when they arrive soon. In the meantime, I'm off to do some more shopping.. curtains here I come!

What's in the bag..

Yeah for my first tag! Thanks Laura! I wish we were closer so we could really hang out. So, here's what's in my cute litte purse.. =) It's not exactly little. I got my hot pink purse last year at the beach at Private Gallery. They have the best purses and clothes too. I think there prices are very reasonable and I love to shop at that cute store.

1. My baby pink Hobo wallet.. and yes this is my life. I love that thing. It has two sides that open and it opens in the middle so you can put a lot of stuff in it and the best thing is you can use it as a clutch too. Love it!

2. My blackberry.. gotta have that at all times!

3. My checkbook and pen.. don't really use it much but I do write checks for my lunch account at school.. that's about it. =)

4. My Beauticontrol products.. and yes, I do sell it if you are looking for a consultant. There products are AMAZING. I have 3 different lipglosses.. I love those. My lipliner, lipstick, wetdry and the best ever lip balm. It makes your lips feels so good! You should try it if you've never had some.

5. My little camera.. it always stays in my purse. You never know when you need to capture the moment.

6. My Beauticontol hand creme.. this stuff is great too. It is great for really dry skin and the best part is it doesn't have a scent. Most of those lotions give me a headache!

7. My sunglasses.. gotta have those. They are cheap-0 from Belk. Probably about $20 bucks but they do the job!

8. The pink envelope.. are some gift cards from my kids for end of the year teacher gifts. I need to use them too. =) And, a really sweet card from a parent.

9. Orbit gum.. I am very addicted to this stuff and I chew gum all the time.

I guess that's it. Nothing really exciting but I couldn't live without it. And, I guess I'm supposed to tag some people too. I've never done this before.. so Bre, Shelly, and Christy you are it! Let's see your stuff!

Happy Birthday Hamilton

Today is our nephew Hamilton's 13th birthday. Wow.. time goes by so fast. I can't believe he is that old. I remember when he was just in kindergarten. But, we had a fun day celebrating with the family. We went to the Bessemer airport (who knew there was one) and ate at The Hangar. I didn't eat but Jamie said the burgers were really good and you can watch the planes come in too. It was a neat place..I felt like we were at the beach.. there is a little area outside with tables and sand for the kids to play in. We had a great time and will definitly go back. Happy Birthday Hammy! We love you!

Carrie Underwood

Jan and I went to see Carrie last night.. and it was AWESOME! One of the best concerts I've been to. I just LOVE her.. I'm slightly obsessed with her and would secretly love to meet her and hug her neck one day. I've been a big fan of her since she was on American Idol. I think she is so cute and can sing like no other! Wow...her voice is amazing and at one point I was moved to tears. She sang Jesus Take the Wheel (one of my fav's) and then she broke out in the middle of it with How Great Thou Art. I had chills up my arms.. it was so awesome. She had about 7 outfits changes.. we were trying to keep up. At one point she was lifted above the crowd in a cute little truck. It was just a great show and I will definitly be back to see her again. Craig Morgan opened up for her and he was awesome too. Love me some Redneck Yacht Club. He is a great entertainer. Not so sure about the first group that came out.. Sons of Sylvia. They were a little much.. screaming, jumping up and down, crazy faces.. it was very interesting to say the least. Jan and I were not really impressed! But, Carrie you rocked it out! It was a lot of fun! I'm so thankful for fun friends like Jan who I know are always up for some fun! Love you girl!

Zac Brown Band

Last night we went to see the Zac Brown Band with some good friends of ours, Shane and Erin. We had a great time at the concert.. despite the hotness! Oh my goodness.... it was slightly miserable because it was SO hot. We did a lot of sweating.. I think I was drenched by the end of the night but it was a lot of fun and they definitly rocked out! Jamie and I are big fans and I was so glad we got to see them in concert. They played a lot of new songs that are coming out on their new album and they were really good too. We had great seats.. almost right down front so it made for an awesome night. Great friends, great company, great music and good times! Can't wait to do it again tonight.. look out Carrie here we come!

Haven't seen them in soo long and Anna will be in 7th grade next year. Makes me feel old but I am so glad I ran into them. There precious daughter was such a sweetie and so were they.

Zac Brown!! Yeah!

I Love Summer...

Don't you? I love everything about summer.. the sun, the pool, sleeping in, cleaning out closets, out to lunch, re-decorating, the lake, the beach, summer projects, good books to read.. and the list goes on. Spring and summer are my most favorite seasons for sure. I just love having the freedom to do whatever I need to in the summer time. Did I mention.. being a teacher is great! =)
The view across the lake
Just in the first week that I have officially been on summer vacation, I have gotten a lot of things done around the house. One of my projects has been to make a picture wall to go above my bench in the hallway. I can't believe in July we will have lived here a year... and I still don't have pictures on the wall, curtains in the living room, etc..etc. I keep telling myself baby steps. I can't have it all at once. But, it has been driving my crazy to have an empty wall in the hallway. I wasn't sure what to put up there.. so, last week I decided to try a picture wall with different frames. It's been a lot harder than I thought it would have been, so please tell me what you think. Does it look right or do I need to change some things around? I need my decorater friends (um..shelly and erin) to especially tell me their thoughts. I don't have all the pictures in the frames just yet.. I wanted to make sure I liked it that way before I printed off pictures. So, here it is.. feel free to let me know your thoughts.. =) Do you think it is too busy or do I need to use some smaller frames?

The collage frame in the middle has pictures from our wedding.

Another one of my summer projects was to find some patio furniture for outisde. I wanted some last year but never really found any that we liked. I've looked at several places this year.. Lowes, Home Depot, Wal Mart but never really found any that I liked. So, when I was at Target the other day I found some that I really liked. I took Jamie back up to look at it and he liked it too. So, we went and picked it up on Sunday on our way back from the lake. When we got there, the store only had the 2 chairs and not the loveseat. So, we bought the 2 chairs and drove to Trussville to get the loveseat. While we were at the Trussville store, I noticed this other chair that I liked better.. (and yes, we had already bought the 2 chairs from the other Target store) I looked at Jamie and said, "I think I like those chairs better than the ones we bought. What if we return those and get these." Immediately, he said No, Katy we can't do that we've already bought the other ones. Well.. to make a long story short.. we ended up returning the other chairs and buying 2 of the new ones. I really did like them so much better. Of course, they didn't have the loveseat that went with it so we had to drive back to 280 to get the loveseat. But, I am so glad we did.. I love it and I have been sitting outside reading every day. Hubs was a good sport..thanks for understanding! love you babe! I still need to get some pillows. I want to pull some red in there somewhere but of course, they were all sold out of the red pillows.. so, I'm on the lookout for those. =) So, please excuse my old pillows.

Isn't it cute?

We also went back to the lake for the weekend. Had a great time by ourselves. Mom was in Ohio with the kids and dad was in Selma so we enjoyed a nice quiet time at the lake.. just the two of us. Life is good! This weekend is concert weekend.. I'm gearing up for Zac Brown Band Friday night and then Carrie on Saturday. Woo hoo! Fun times!

Jamie did a lot of this..and Oscar was right
there with him!
Hope you all are enjoying your summer too!
