Beach 2012

We had a great time at the beach!  The weather was perfect.. a little windy but not too hot.  This was Burkleigh's 2nd beach trip but her first one to touch the sand. Her first trip she was 10 weeks old and spent most of the time inside with her Mimi.  This time she loved it!  She wasn't so sure about the sand on her hands.  But I think she warmed up to it on her feet.  My parents went with us and we stayed at a friends penthouse condo in Gulf Shores.  It was perfect!  So nice to get away and get a little sunshine.  It did us all some good.. vacations are always good for the soul!  =)

She tried out the water.. it was a little cold but she loved it when I was holding her and bouncing up and down.  The pool was a zero entry so that was nice and she loved playing and splashing.

B is fighting a nasty cold and as soon as we got back I got it.  Boo!! 

Hoping we all feel better soon.. thankfully daddy is home this week to help out!

Burkleigh Ann is 10 months old..

 We've entered the double digits...crazy!!  Only 8 more weeks till this little lovebug is one!!  Oh. my. word. I am in denial!  These days you are on the move and all over the place.. very fast so, .no luck with the sitting in our bed pic.  =(  We tried several times.  Everytime I put you down you next to your pillow, you crawled and pulled right up.

You are a busy body! You are crawling fast and pulling up on everything. 

You weighed 18.9 at the dr. a week ago.

You are still really petite though and you are wearing 6-9 mo. clothes and some 12 mo.  

I bought you all 12 mo. for spring/summer and some of them are still too big.  Hopefully you will grow into them.  

You wear a size 3 diaper.

Your little personality is really coming out.  You are so funny and you laugh all the time.

Especially if someone else is laughing, you just laugh right along with them like you know exactly what is so funny.  It cracks us up and I get tickled and laugh more and you keep laughing along.  It is seriously one of my most favorite things.  You have a little fake laugh too that you do alot and its too cute.  I need to video it.

You are very strong willed and know exactly what you want when you want it.  I wonder where you get that from?

You love for sometime to play with you but you also like to play by yourself too.  Your favorite toys are your stand up musical toy and your balls.  You love for someone to sit in the floor and throw them back and forth to you and you can throw them!  You love it!!

You wave at everything.. its too funny!

You make the funniest noises.. when you want something you look it and make a "umph" sound like you are trying to talk to it.  

You love to look at pictures of yourself on our phones or ones we have on the wall.  You just laugh and smile.  

You are very curious and love to watch others and figure things out.  I love to watch you think.. you are a good little problem solver.  When you throw your ball under a table you get down low on the floor and look under the table and try to get it.  

You usually take a 30min-1 hr nap in the am and a 1.5-2 hr. afternoon nap. Sometimes you don't take the morning nap.  It just depends.  Lately, you've been fighting it.

Teething has been yucky this past month and your sleep pattern has been crazy.  You wake up a good bit in the night and I'm hoping once those 2 top teeth come in you will go back to sleeping better. You are a little pill at bedtime.  =( 

You went through a stranger anxiety phase too and it was mostly with men.  You didn't want anything to do with your Pops for a while but thankfully thats over.

You are babbling more.. you still say ma-ma all the time, ya-ya and a few da-da's.  (I think) Daddy says he has heard you say it a few times but I'm not so sure. =)

 

You LOVE your books and will just sit and read the same ones over and over.  You definitlely have your favorites.  Ten Little Ladybugs, Eight Silly Monkeys, My little Love Bug, Animals, First Words. 

You drink about 4-5 bottles a day usually 5 oz. each. You want nothing to do with your baby food anymore. You are all about feeding yourself and will slap at the spoon if you don't want it.  I'm trying to think of new things for you to try but your favorites right now:  cheerios, mandarain oranges, happy baby cheese puffs and the brocolli cheese ones too, bananas, yo baby yogurt, ella's or earths best fruit smoothies, peas and carrots, mac and cheese and anything we are eating.  You just want what we are eating!!

*You love water and to drink out of a regular cup and water bottle.  You love to drink water and then spit it back out and blow bubbles and just laugh so loud!  You crack yourself up.  

You are a little bundle of joy and at times you make your momma go crazy when you fight sleep but I love everything about your little funny self.  You give the best open mouth kisses and you love for mommy to dance with you.  Music class is your favorite too and you love for me to sing to you.  Itsy Bitsy Spider is a favorite.  

You are changing and growing every day and I'm thankful for those times that you still let me rock you to sleep for a bit.  You won't be a baby much longer but you will always be my baby!

Five months, eight months,and ten

Burkleigh's First Easter..

Easter has always been one of my favorite times of the year.  I love everything about it..celebrating our risen savior, the springtime weather, the food, family, and I love seeing all the kiddos in their new sunday dresses and clothes.  It was an extra special easter for our little family. As we all three sat in the church pews, I couldn't help but get tears in my eyes thinking about how I used to dream of the day when I had a little girl that I could dress up and take to church on easter sunday.  As I was listening to the service with Burkleigh sitting in my lap (which she was soo good by the way) I was just overcome with love and joy for our amazing God.  Not only did he pay the ultimate price for our lives, I am so thankful He is in control of all things. My heart was feeling very full holding my precious baby girl on her First Easter.  Being a mommy brings on a whole new meaning of thankful.

Yay!! She finally let her Pops hold her and she didn't cry.  She has been going through a stranger anxiety phase and its been mostly with males.  I sure hope its over.. I know it hurt my dads feelings. She loves her Pops!

Girls Weekend..

The girls (me, mom, and Burkleigh) headed to Selma for the weekend to see my sweet Nanny.  It was a fun, low key weekend and we even got to squeeze in some Phase 10 and SkipBo during nap time.  Fun times!

Who needs toys when you have kitchen tools?  Thats all she needed. 

Burkleigh is going through a little transition phase and seems to be skipping out on her morning nap and just taking one nap a day.  Sometimes she will get in a little 30 min nap if we are out and about but she pretty much refuses to sleep in her bed unless she is really tired.  I was worried about how she was going to do considering she has not slept in her pack n play.  We've tried several times when we've gone out of town and she refused.  So, I went to buy buy baby and bought a mattress for the pack n play.  Who knew they made those? I wondered if it would do the trick and it did.  =)  Yippee!  She slept pretty good in it (she still woke up twice) but that seems to be our life here lately.  I'm just thrilled she did okay.  We leave next Saturday for the beach so I feel better knowing that she will tolerate the pack n play.  Thank goodness!
