Fun in the Sun..

B has not been her little self lately. We ended up going to the dr. on Thursday because she was not drinking her bottles much.  She was taking about 5 oz. a day.. thats it.  I wasn't sure what was up.. if she had an ear infection or what so I just took her in.  No ear infection, but her white blood count was extremely high.  It should have been between 6,000-12,000 and hers was 22, 000.  She was also running a low grade fever. He thought she probably had a UTI so he did a urine sample and oh my word.. that was awful!!  She was already crying the minute she saw Dr. Andy and then taking blood in her heel and then the urine sample about set her over the edge. Poor thing.. Her test came back negative so that was good but we still don't know what was wrong.  He said she was obviously fighting some sort of infection so he put her on antibotic and now her little tummy is all upset.  Pitiful! She seems to be doing better despite the tummy issues.  She is drinking her bottles again and I'm thankful it wasn't her little ears.

She finally got those two top teeth.. whew!! Those stinkers.. now shes working on the ones on either side of those.  Someone asked me if I found anything to help soothe her and my dr. did say to rub a little childrens benadryl on her gums. It helps to numb it. I did that and used oragel and would give tylenol or motrin at night.  Nobody told me how hard teething would be.  =)

On Saturday, Burkleigh seemed to be feeling better and we both needed to get out of the house.  So, off to the pool we went. Our pool just opened this weekend and I wasn't sure if the water would even be warm enough but it was.  Its been so hot here lately so it wasn't cold at all. She really loved it and the pool wasn't crowded at all.  It was our first real swim of the season.  Can't wait for many more!!

On Sunday we went to lunch and ran some errands and Mimi and Nanny stopped by that afternoon for a visit.  We got B a little bubble machine and she had fun playing in the bubbles and swinging..

Fun with Friends..

On Saturday, we went to a first birthday party for sweet little Noah.  It was a sock monkey theme and my friend Christy did a great job on the decorations.  It was too cute.  His cake was too cute and he loved his little smash cake.  He had it all over the place and just ate and ate it.

These are my two best friends from high school and they are both named Christy.  Christy with a C and Kristi with a K.  Our kiddos were born about 6 weeks apart (April, June, August) Its crazy!  It was so good to see both of them and their kiddos.  We all keep in touch on facebook but we don't get to see each other as often as we'd like so it was especially fun to see them on Saturday.

After the party we headed to Crestline to meet our sweet friends Rebecca and Kyle and Lily for the Funky Fish Fry.  It was a hot afternoon but we had a good time just hanging out on the lawn listening to music and chatting.  The girls had a good ole time playing and eating snacks. They couldn't get enough.  

I'm so thankful for this sweet friend and our girls.  Becca truly is an answer to prayer and I'm so thankful  for her.  When I decided to be a stay at home mom, I prayed that I would find another stay at home mom to connect with and Becca was definitely an answer to prayer.  Now, our girls have music class together and we get together for play dates almost once a week.  I'm so thankful the girls will get to grow up together..now if we could just talk them into moving in our neighborhood.  =) The girls are too sweet together and I just love sweet Lily to pieces.  She is a doll!

B loved crawling on the soft grass.  She doesn't like our grass but this grass was so soft she didn't mind.  She  was soo good too.  I didn't know how she would do coming from the birthday party with no nap but she was great and even passed out in my arms around 5.  Never fussed one bit..she loves to be outside!  It was a great weekend.. a hot one though and this week is supposed to be in the high 80s and 90's.  Crazy!!  Becca and I are already taking the girls to the pool this week.  I think we're in for another HOT summer.

We've had a pretty good week.  B has been teething REALLY bad and night times have been pretty rough the past few nights.  Oh my goodness... being a first time mom is so hard.  You just don't always know why they are crying out.. in pain, mad, hungry, teeth, ear, and the list goes on.  Monday and Tuesday nights were some of the worst nights we've had yet and I think the two top teeth are to blame for that.  They have finally broken through and you can see a little bit of them.  Whew!! Sleep in general was rough for her.. she wouldn't nap either.  I was debating taking her to the dr. to see if she had an ear infection.  (she's had two already) but she's finally sleeping better now.  Nobody can prepare you for motherhood.. it's all a learning experience. Hopefully, we're on our way to happier days..

Monday morning "talking" to Oscar.  She was just grunting and making the funniest noises like she was talking to him. Too funny!

Then, she would look back at me like "why isn't he doing anything?"  

Mom and I made a new spring wreath.  I think it turned out cute!  B refused to take her am. nap so I knew she was going to be a pistol when we went out to run errands and of course by the time we got to the store, she fell asleep in her seat.  So, mom and I took turns running in the store to look at things.

Tuesday, we had a play date with Lily.  B was not a very good friend.  She was soo tired from being up from 2:30-6 the night before that she was extremely fussy and irritable.  We had to call it an early day and of course she feel asleep in the car on the way home.  Then, she was fine!

Wednesday, we had music class.  I meant to take a picture and forgot.  We were late getting there because the night before B wouldn't sleep either. I finally gave up after getting up so many times and being sleep deprived that I put her in the bed with us (I know, terrible) but you do what works when you are exhausted and she slept like a charm.  Poor thing.. slept till 7 and then played in our bed and went back till 8:30.  She was a tired girl.  I was all worried that I was starting a horrible thing and she was never going to want to sleep in her own bed again but thankfully last night she slept in her bed like a charm. Those stinker teeth..she just needed some extra snuggle time with mommy!

After music, she actually took her am nap and slept for 2 hours and she took an afternoon nap for a little bit. Slowly, she is getting back to her old sleeping habits.

Today, we ran to Target and the mall and one of my favorite clothing stores for B and got a few things.  I found these tommee tippee cups( which we love) with straws.  B really likes drinking out of straws so we'll see how she likes these.  

I got B this music set since she loves music class.

Zoo and a carnival

We've had a busy weekend around here!  But, its been fun! Since Jamie  has been off this week, on Friday we took B to the zoo for her first time.  It was a lot of fun.  Thankfully, it wasn't too hot either so it was really nice to be outside and walk around.  The zoo was really crowded but I've never seen it when its not.   We went around lunch time so it wasn't too bad.

We had a great time and B absolutely loved it.  She never fussed not one time.. until we got in the car to go home.  =) She loves to be outside and watch people (just like her mama) so it was the perfect day.  I think we're gonna have to get a zoo membership since it cost a fortune for Jamie and I to get in.  ha!

On Saturday, we went to Family Day with my dads work, Alabama Power. It was a lot of fun too.

We didn't realize what a big shin-dig it was until we got there.  There was a ton of people, lots of carnvial rides, FREE food and it was yummy, Jim N Nicks, funnel cakes, candy apples, snow cones, you name it they had it.  They had bands, a kid stage with a magician and a puppeter, a petting zoo, a kid play area, horsey rides, train rides and the list goes on.  There was so much to do.  Next year, B will really have a blast on all the rides.

We attempted the all white beach pictures..and this is what we got.  It's times like this I wish I knew how to operate my camera from the auto mode.  And I've even taken a class and I still don't know what I'm doing.  Maybe one day...But, its precious memories!

Lately...

*I've been trying to get birthday stuff done and ordered for Burkleigh's 1st birthday party.  My to do list seems to be getting longer and longer.

*I'm working on a DVD slide show and it has taken me forever to figure out how to make it and then my computer savvy brother came to my rescue and told me how easy it was to just use the DVD program that came with my computer.. really??? who knew it came with one?  Not me.. but I do now and it is really easy.  I'll be doing these every year on her birthday as keepsakes for our little family. Love!!

*I'm also making her a baby book on shutterfly and I'm hoping to have it done so I can have it at the party.  I've got lots to do..

*I've been a little sad about having to go back to work next year.  I definitely have mixed feelings about it but I'm hoping it will be a good change for all of us.  B will be in good hands.. with my mom and my sister in law so that makes it a little easier but its still not gonna be easy.  Don't get me wrong.. there are many days where I wish I was working but many more days I'm thankful to be a stay at home mom.  I'm just gonna try not to think about until August.

* I enrolled B in mothers day out for the summer and fall and she starts right after her first birthday and will go 2-3 days a week in the summer for 6 weeks and then start back in the fall going 2 days a week to give Mimi a little break.  I'm hoping this summer will help transition her for the fall and will give me some time to work in my classroom and get it all ready again.

*Our neighborhood has been building more houses lately and our little culdesac is getting lots of new hosues. I know this is selfish but I'm praying for a family with little ones so B will have some friends nearby and I'm really trying to talk some of our sweet friends into moving in next to us.  It would be so fun!

*I've been missing my niece and nephews in Ohio and wishing they were closer.  Hoping to see them soon!

*I really need some new spring/summer clothes but I am still not where I want to be weight wise and I don't like buying clothes right now.  I'm trying to get my butt in gear.  There are some really cute things out there. Why does it have to be so hard?? Geez...

*So.. I got the app myfitness pal and I love it.  It really helps you be accountable for what you are eating and it tells you how many calories everything is.  Its so neat!  I love it!

*I got these super cute flip flops at the loft a few weeks ago and I love them.  They are now my go to shoes and they go with everything.

*I'm thankful that Jamie is off this week so B can have some extra daddy time and I can get some things done that I don't usually get to do.

*I just finished reading Nicholas Sparks latest book, The Best of  Me. It took me forever to read it. I just can't find the time like I used to to be able to read and that makes me sad. I love a good book.  Like always, it didn't disappoint and I'm ready for his newest movie, The Lucky One to come out. I am a big Nicholas Spark fan.

*I can't tell you how long its been since I've been to the movies.  Seriously..too long.  Jamie and I need a date night soon so we can see The Hunger Games. He read all the books so he is anxious to see it.

*I am loving this weather we have been having although now I have a nasty springtime cold and it is just annoying.  My nose is just dripping and its no fun!  I wish it would go away!

*I'm excited to take B to the zoo today.  It will be her first time.  Yay!

*I really wish I had a maid.. seriously.. how does this house always seem to stay dirty and messy!! I will be getting me one come August when I go back to work.  I will be treating myself for sure!

*I still can't believe in less than 2 months I will have a one year old.  I know everybody says it but where did the time go?? It flew...

*I am loving the new season of Guilliana and Bill.  Are you watching?  I just love them so much and pray that one day she will have a little baby to love.  I heard on the Today show this morning that they have a special annoucement that will make a lot of people happy!  I can't wait to hear what it is!! I'm guessing.. adoption but who knows.

* This post from Kelly's Korner and was  just what I needed to read.  If you don't already read her (I'm sure you all do) you should.  Love her!

*I've been trying to think of soft things that B can eat.  She doesn't want her baby food at all.  I would love some suggestions from all the mommy's out there of their kids favorite things.  She only has her 2 front teeth so anything soft.  She's been eating what we are eating but not very much of it.  She loves all her snacks though.

*I need to do better about taking vitamins.  I feel so sluggish and some days I feel like I have no energy. I guess I need a B 12 pill.  Any suggestions??

*Yesterday was my daddy's birthday.  Happy Birthday to the best daddy in the world.  We love you!
